Tech start-ups are the driving force behind Africa’s digital transformation. Local entrepreneurs are often in a much better position to find innovative solutions to development challenges. Their work not only has positive social effects, but also creates new employment opportunities with great potential for the future. However, many young (technology) start-ups in Sub-Saharan Africa lack access to finance, customers, employees and digital infrastructure. It is even more difficult for young female entrepreneurs outside the metropolitan regions to master these challenges. Make-IT brings the key players together and supports African entrepreneurs on their way to sustainable solutions, growth and employment.
“Make-IT in Africa” promotes digital innovations in Africa for sustainable and inclusive development. The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH implements Make-IT on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in Ghana and Rwanda as well as in 11 other countries. In close cooperation with more than 20 business and financing partners, social enterprises, hubs and networks, Make-IT creates an environment for young businesses to gain better access to finance, markets and skills.
