A School Administrator/Head is required to manage the operations of a start-up Preschool that offers creche, nursery and kindergarten. He / She will be expected to plan, coordinate, and direct the academic and non-academic activities of the school for optimal school operation and to achieve desired results. The goal is to ensure a stable/conducive environment for the total (physical, mental, social and emotional development) of enrolled preschool children.
The successful candidate must have knowledge of preschool educational methods and industry best practice and possess an ability to manage a school, manage people and engage with parents, staff, industry stakeholders such as the Ministries of Education and Social Welfare respectively as well as tax and statutory pension institutions. The position will report to the Director/Proprietress of the school.
Responsibilities

- Manage and direct the day-to-day operations of the school.

- Prepare and maintain school records on attendance, academic and non-academic activities, feeding and fee schedules, child information accounts, personnel reports and other reports for management, education sector officials, government agencies.

- Help to establish and maintain the school’s educational standards and goals, in line with industry requirements and advance policies, procedures, and programs to carry them out.

- Engage with parents and staff to ensure smooth school operations (this will include but not be limited to communicating with parents on school developments, organizing PTA meetings, handling new enrolment inquiries, and serving as the key liaison officer between the school, parents and potential clientele).

- Work with the Director and teachers to monitor students’ progress against set standards and provide students and teachers with assistance in resolving students’ behavioral or learning challenges.

- Work within approved budget allocations for staff, supplies, materials, and equipment, and authorize purchases of school supplies.

- Support the recruitment, development and evaluation of teachers and other staff and direct and coordinate their respective activities to achieve expected results.

- Review and interpret government educational standards and operational codes and develop inhouse procedures to meet these standards and ensure compliance, safety, security, and maintenance of the school.

- Review and evaluate new and current school programs; determine their effectiveness and alignment with the law, mandated curricula and statutory regulations and recommend any necessary modifications.

- Handle the settlement of all statutory payments, carry out operational license and industry membership renewals and ensure the school is in good standing with its statutory obligations.

- Maintain a log of revenues and expenditures and provide operational (e.g., income, expense, enrolment, and retention reports) to the School Director/Proprietress as needed,

- Maintain a log of school assets and manage the administration and use of school educational materials across classes to ensure effective teaching.

- Prepare and submit budget requests (termly and/or annually) to support the school’s operations.

- Direct and support the creation of school documents such as articles, manuals, brochures and other publications, and assist in the distribution of promotional literature about programs and facilities.

- Teach classes or designated subjects or provide direct care to children; if required;

- Market and promote the school actively to increase patronage to achieve optimum occupancy.
